How to Upgrade Your PayMaya Account

I was on my way to Ortigas one rainy morning when I happened to see a billboard adverstising PayMaya. I nudged my companion then and asked if she knew what it was about. To cut to the chase, she told me that it was app that I should definitely download since it was something new and useful.

Intrigued, I looked it up and learned that there were various things I could do with it. Shopping online using a virtual VISA or MasterCard, booking flights, buying mobile load and paying bills were just a few of its perks. But what made me really interested in it was that it was prepaid and I could just load it up whenever I need it and through facilities that were easily accessible like 7/11, Cebuana Lhuillier, Palawan Pawnshop, ECPay, Bayad Centers or through mobile banking.

Later, I found out that there were more perks if the account was upgraded, such as being able to withdraw money (through the physical card) from Bancnet ATMs, sending money to another PayMaya user and having the monthly load limit from Php 50,000 to Php 100,000!

Ergo, the reason for this post ;)

First off, you need to download the app from either the Google Play Store or the App Store. Register your name, email address and your mobile number.

Create your account with your chosen password. You'll then receive a verification message via the mobile number you registered. Take note that this is only for Philippine mobile number subscribers (doesn't matter if your Globe, SUN, etc).

Then upon entering the verification number, you can access your virtual card. Complete your registration by indicating your birthday and address. Upon completion of these, your account will then be activated.

Steps in Upgrading your PayMaya Account:

1. Go to your PayMaya App and tap "More",  then choose "Upgrade for Free".

2. Fill out the information needed and decide which valid ID to upload to complete the upgrading application.

You can either chose one (1) from the listed primary ID or two (2) from the secondary ID listed below:

Primary ID:
- Passport
- Driver’s License
- National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance
- Alien Certification of Registration/Immigrant Certificate of Registration
- Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) / Social Security System (SSS) Card
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ID
- PhilHealth ID (digitized PVC)
- Government Office and GOCC ID, e.g. Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP ID), Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF ID)
- Postal ID (issued 2015 onwards)
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID

Secondary ID:
- Police Clearance
- TIN ID
- Barangay Certification
- Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) e-Card
- Senior Citizen Card
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ID
- Seaman’s Book
- Voter’s ID
- Certification from the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (NCWDP)
- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Certification
- Company IDs issued by Private Entities or Institutions registered with or supervised or regulated either by the BSP, SEC or IC

Keep in mind that if you opt to upload any of the secondary identification card, you need another valid ID for the face-to-face validation.

3. A text message with the validation code will then be sent to you.
This validation code will be used later for your face-to-facemvalidation with the PayMaya representative

4. Complete the upgrading process by choosing between the two:

 - Video call with a PayMaya representative
Go to the official PayMaya Facebook page and send a private message for the scheduling ofr yor video call.

*Make sure that you are sending the message to the official messenger account of PayMaya. I tried searching for PayMaya and a lot popped up, a lot.

- Going to a participating Bayad Center branch with the fully accomplished Customer Information Card
Don't forget your validation code and the valid ID/s you initially uploaded.

The upgrading of your PayMaya account is free!

    1. Hello, sorry for the late reply. The newest PhilHealth ID is listed as a primary ID kaya okay lang pero kung yung laminated pa yung sa iyo, I think you need to prepare another one as back-up. Hope you get your account verified soon!
